The Caucus' purpose is to ensure that legislation passed by the United States Congress, to the greatest extent possible, provides for the full participation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and reflects the concerns and needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

The CBC has been committed to using the full Constitutional power, statutory authority and financial resources of the federal government to ensure that African Americans and other marginalized communities in the United States have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. As part of this commitment, the CBC has fought for the past 48 years to empower these citizens and address their legislative concerns by pursuing policy changes.

This Caucus advocates for issues important to Hispanic people through the Congressional legislative process.

The mission of the Caucus is to work for LGBTQ+ rights, the repeal of laws discriminatory against LGBTQ+ persons, the elimination of hate-motivated violence and improved health and well-being for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. The Caucus serves as a resource for Members of Congress, their staff and the public on LGBTQ+ issues.
